There is a really cute bakery fairly close to my school. They sell fancy breads and cakes! My friends bought some bread that had fruit infused in it which was delicious.
This is the dorm room I will be staying in for the next 6 weeks. It is very spacious and there is a lot of storage. My roommates name is Minnie and she is a very nice girl, she has already helped me figure out how to work everything. Yesterday we went to get bubble tea (boba) with her and 2 other girls. The bathroom is different in that the shower head (which is one that you can hold in your hand), toilet, and sink are not separated by any door or curtain. So the first time I took a shower I basically covered the bathroom in water haha its gonna take me a few times to master the technique of correct showering.
Who wouldnt want to be stuck in a airport for 11 hours? Instead of leaving at 1:10 pm I get to leave at 12:10 am ...
Actually the international terminal at LAX is probably the best place you could get stuck at. Its basically a mall and an airport. There are Gucci stores, Prada, coach, Victorias secret, etc. it's huge.
BUT FIRST let's discuss the events that led up to this long delay. First of all I've never traveled internationally by plane, I had no idea what I was doing. I got off my flight from Phoenix to LAX and I didn't know how to get to the international terminal. I only had one hour to find my plane so I asked every working person I passed by. After I found the terminal I looked up at the departure board to find my flight to see that it says 12:10, now at first I didn't see the little 'a' by the time. I glanced at my watch and freaked out because it said 11:50. There was no way I can get my boarding pass, go through security, and find my plane in 20 minutes. Then I saw the 'a'... wait what? I was calculating the time in my head and I thought it was a mistake, how can a plane be delayed for 11 hours?
Welllll my friends, it's because it went to Japan instead of America. I don't understand why because it couldn't have been an accident but our plane is coming from Japan to America.
When I checked in the lady gave me a $30 gift card courtesy of Asiana to buy lunch and dinner which was nice of them. After going through crazy security and getting some food, I have found a nice quite place to charge all of my devices and relax. I will be getting in around 5:10 AM Monday morning instead of 6:10 PM on Sunday, and then will head straight to Far East to make it in time for orientation. I will hopefully have time to change into something else other than the sweats I'm wearing on the plane haha. Until next time!!!
I GOT MY VISA! I just got it in the mail today and I'm leaving in 3 days haha. You can say it was a close call and definitely not a fun process :( It involved a lot of phone calls and emails to Korea, and me trying to keep my mom calm even though I was freaking out at the same time. I'm glad it worked out in the end :)
It is valid for a stay up to 6 months and is multiple entry so I can come and go as many times as I want. I actually applied for a single entry visa and was pleasantly surprised by getting a multiple entry visa.
I have been awarded a scholarship from my home university to go abroad to S. Korea. The only requirement is to simply have a blog or website that I must update weekly. This blog will be used or shown on the school's abroad website for future students who want to travel abroad to South Korea.
This blog will also be my diary. I will post anything and everything. From my random thoughts about the culture to pictures of historical palaces and yummy food. I am very excited to share my journey with you from day one!
